Primary tabs

21/10/2022 - On Friday (21/10), the Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences at the Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) underwent an online field assessment conducted by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Education Programmes (LAMDIK) via Zoom Meeting. LAMDIK is responsible for accrediting educational programmes in Indonesia. Two assessors were assigned to the online visitation: Prof. Dr. Rakimahwati, M.Pd. from Universitas Negeri Padang and Dr. Ernawulan Syaodih, M.Pd. from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. From UNY, the session was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, the Director and Deputy Directors of the Graduate School, the Head of the Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences, the Accreditation Task Force Team, and the supporting team.
The assessors were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Margana, M.Hum., M.A. In his remarks, Prof. Margana apologised for the absence of the Rector and other Vice-Rectors, who were attending a joint exercise event with the Minister of Youth and Sports. He extended a warm welcome and expressed his hope that the assessors would provide guidance and valuable insights to help further improve the quality of the programme.
In her opening statement, Prof. Rakimahwati explained that, as with any accreditation process, several activities were scheduled, including meetings with alumni and verification of the evidence submitted in the self-evaluation report. She added that most of the key points had already been well explained by the UNY team, and that the assessors would focus on confirming the information provided in the uploaded documents. Dr. Ernawulan Syaodih added that during the visitation, the assessors would observe the learning facilities and supporting infrastructure, review student services, observe teaching practices that apply innovative learning models and lesson plans, and hold meetings with lecturers, administrative staff, and students.
The Doctoral Programme in Educational Sciences at UNY was established in 2006 through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 3039/D/T/2006 dated 16 August 2006. The establishment of the programme was driven by the need to develop educational theories and practices rooted in Indonesia’s own philosophical, cultural, and socio-historical foundations. In the past, educational thought and practice in Indonesia tended to rely heavily on ideas borrowed from other countries, which often limited the ability of educators and practitioners to build theories that reflect the nation’s identity and needs. As a result, many policies and practices have not produced the expected outcomes.
The programme was therefore created to explore and develop Indonesia’s indigenous philosophical, historical, and socio-cultural perspectives on education, while also engaging with global educational theories. This dual approach aims to foster a deeper understanding of local educational thought and to enable Indonesian educators to participate actively in the rapidly changing global educational landscape.
