25/10/2022 - With some postgraduate students nearing the end of their study period without having completed their dissertations, the Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) saw the need to provide focused support to help them finish their writing efficiently. The initiative also aims to make it easier for students to access the reference materials and academic resources they need.

To address this, the Graduate School organised a Writing Camp Workshop, providing students with a dedicated space in the postgraduate library. The library offered access to extensive references, independent workspaces, and various facilities designed to enable students to focus fully on their writing without external distractions.

The Writing Camp was officially opened by the Director of the Graduate School, Prof. Dr. Anik Ghufron, M.Pd., and was attended by 18 students. During the opening session, Dr. Slamet Suyanto, M.Ed., Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, delivered a keynote presentation outlining the aims and objectives of the programme. He also shared guidance on effective dissertation writing and key steps students should follow during the camp.

Throughout the programme, students worked daily in the library, where all necessary facilities were provided to support their writing process. Lunch was served on site to save time, and participants were given access to workstations, internet connectivity, reference materials, and both online and offline consultation opportunities with their supervisors and co-supervisors.

In addition to their main supervisors, consultant lecturers were available each day to assist students with their writing. These consultants provided advice, offered solutions to writing challenges, and documented each consultation to track progress.

The Writing Camp was designed to offer comprehensive academic and logistical support, enabling students to focus intensively and make significant progress towards completing their dissertations.
